The PNG National Cultural Commission (NCC) earlier this month signed a Memorandum of Understanding to officiate a partnership with the PNG National Youth Development Authority (NYDA).
The MOU allows for the two organisations to work together to address youth development in the country through mutually beneficial youth focussed cultural programs, activities and ongoing support.
During the signing ceremony, in the presence of NYDA Director General, Mr Joe Itaki, board members, staff and guests, NCC Acting Executive Director Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda said “NCC is happy to work in partnership with such organizations to fulfill our government’s vision of integral human development in all aspects.”
“Under the Director General, Mr Itaki’s directorship NYDA has initiated and formulated workable activity plan and strategies that will drive the government’s agenda on youths.” Kilanda continued, further stating that the NCC will provide, cultural experts, technical support and advice, theatrical and film making trainings, involvement of youths in musical festivals, dance and choreography, register youth cultural groups, involvement of youths in cultural education programs like cultural debates, training on sand and fine art painting and arts exhibition.
Kilanda said the signing of MoU gives NCC more reason to embrace youth cultural programs that PNG will be part of, and concluded by saying “Our youths are at the cross-road therefore the onus is on us now to build, empower and up-skill them for the better life in the future.”
