Goroka Show Pikinini Festival focuses on younger generation

The 2023 Goroka Show Pikinini Festival was created under the leadership of the show’s chairlady Keryn Hargreaves to target the younger generation. The program encourages local children to continue to practice their cultural heritage.

When speaking with PNGBUZZ, the program’s coordinator Walter Olga said they created this initiative to emphasise to the younger generation to continue to look after their culture and pass it onto future generations.

Olga said they have also invited participants from provinces beyond Eastern Highlands to take part in the festivities.

The 2023 Goroka Show Pikinini Festival takes place on Friday 15th September at NSI in Goroka, to kick start the show program which coincides with the start of PNG’s 48th Independence weekend.
