As part of it’s community contribution, Trukai Industries Limited has taken it upon itself as a business to help with road maintenance along the Mataram and Montoro Streets in Lae, Morobe Province within the company’s vicinity.
The road was re-opened on Thursday August 22 after four months of road maintenance at a cost of about K200,000.
Trukai Industries General Manager Supply Chain and Customer Service, Andrew Grace said the road repair was part of Trukai’s contribution towards the community.
“Trukai is a big business in Lae and a larger user of this road so we took on the responsibility to upgrade the road at our own expense as our contribution towards not just ourselves but the public and the wider business community.”
“The newly upgraded concrete road will now enable smooth flow of traffic, reduce dust and means we can carry more containers in one truck load and that in turn reduces our environmental footprint”, he said.
The road maintenance was done in conjunction with Lae City Authority who allowed for restriction to the part of the road whilst it was under construction. The road construction was done by Nosrida Construction, who have been operating in PNG for the past 40 years, in the construction and project development sector.
Mr Grace said road maintenance along Monotoro Street is ongoing and it’s expected to be completed in six weeks’ time.
