PNG Represent

It would be remiss of me to open this Friday’s Sport Talk without starting with Edene Gebbie and Luke ‘Dj MoFresh’ Page aka the White Kumul.

Congratulations to both men who have done well and in a consistent fashion over the course of the 2019 to assist their teams to the QRL Intrust Super Cup grand final.

Both will have an opportunity to create a part of their own personal stories as Edene embarks on a maiden ISC premiership and Luke will no doubt be churning out the metres up front for his Bears. The venue will be the new look Dolphin stadium which will have it’s first price of ISC history as it hosts it’s first grandfinal at the new look venue.

NRL – Preliminary Finals

Loving the Rugby League banter that has been truly alive over the last couple weeks in PNG.

Love your team and hang up a poster of PNG’s Justin Olam as well as he and his team embark on his first NRL grand final experience.

David Wesley – Canberra Raiders / PNG Kumuls

Canberra Raiders host the Rabbitohs over in Canberra with a welcoming predicted cool of 12° around kick off. The last time the Raiders made the finals was 25 years ago in 1994 which featured PNG Kumuls’ David Westley and current coach Ricky Stuart. Justin Olam was about 9months old then.

Dubbed the battle of the Brits this game will bring the aggressive intensity that is expected with the British contingency out to display their best for their teams. Will be a battle of the big men. South’s will be without James Roberts but Bennett’s continued trust in his players brings the best out when they are required.

I’m tipping the Raiders.

In the other preliminary, touted the grand final before the grand final. Melbourne Storm meet the Sydney Roosters defending their title out at the Sydney Cricket Ground. As always, much hype and media stories to create the buzz and anxiety amongst the faithful. I put this game down to grind and grit.

Both teams very talented and smart coaches who are meticulous at grounding and emphasising in detail. The flair and flamboyance of Roosters will be a point of defence for the Storm. Well done to Justin Olam for his contribution to his team this far. For his sake I hope he gets the upset win in a great run so far.

On paper and form I’m tipping the Roosters.

Whatever sport or activity your on to this weekend Play Fair and Play Safe.
