GG Hosts New Year’s Honours Investiture Ceremony

H.E. Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, GCL, GCMG, KStJ, Governor General of Papua New Guinea, on Thursday 16 July 2020 hosted the Orders of Papua New Guinea 2020 New Year’s Honours and Awards Investiture ceremony.

Seventy-six individuals nominated for the Logohu awards received their awards from the Governor General at Government House yesterday afternoon, which includes recipients from previous years that missed out on receiving their awards.

Recipients from this year’s Orders of Papua New Guinea Honours list include Mrs. Janet Roland Sios, who was made the Officer of the Order of Logohu, OL for service to accountancy, business management and advisory services, MRDC and the Paradise Private Hospital and Dr. Goru Hane-Nou, OL, for service to UPNG, higher education and research, the United Church and the community.

Notable recipients of the Member of the Order of Logohu, ML award were Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Highlands Eastern End, Nema Modiai for distinguished service to the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and Dr. Grant Muddle for service to the community, health service and the Port Moresby General Hospital.

Invested with the National Logohu Medal, LM were Insp. Rebecca Ipai for loyal service to the PNG Correctional Service, and Simon Nutley for service to the community and the Port Moresby Road Runners.

Governor of Central province Hon. Robert Agarobe was invested with the Insignia of the Companion of the Order of the Star of Melanesia, CSM for distinguished service to the aviation industry.

Members of the three disciplinary forces recognized for their services were invested with the Distinguished Military Service Medal for military servicemen, Distinguished Police Service Medal for police personnel and Distinguished Correctional Service Medal for Correctional service officers.

The Orders of Papua New Guinea has three separate Orders – The Order of Logohu, The Order of the Star of Melanesia and The Order of Valour. There are 8 Medals recognizing specific services to the State and the community. They are: Cross of Medical Service (CMS), Distinguished Military Service Medal (DMS), Distinguished Police Service Medal (DPS), Distinguished Correctional Service Medal (DCS), Meritorious Emergency Service Medal (MES), Meritorious Public Service Medal (MPS), Meritorious Community Service Medal (MCS) and Commendation Medal for Valuable Service (CVS).

The Orders of Papua New Guinea investiture ceremony is held twice a year.
