PNG Police to introduce Assistant Commissioner for GBV, FSV


Minister for Police and Madang MP Hon. Bryan Kramer announced on Monday 24 August 2020 in Port Moresby, as part of his policy with the police ministry will be the introduction of an Assistant Commissioner Police (ACP) responsible for Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Family and Sexual Violence FSV.

A High-level Conference on the fight against gender, family and sexual violence was held at parliament house which saw national leaders in the likes of East Sepik Gov. Allan Bird, Oro Gov. Hon. Gary Juffa, NCD Gov. Hon. Powes Parkop, the Police Minister plus government departmental heads and NGO executives attend to address this important issue.

Technology is also a key area where the police ministry is looking at improving and Minister Kramer also highlighted the issues in the police recruitment processes and how they are looking to ensure all new recruits go through a proper vetting process.
