Minj in Jiwaka and Goroka in the Eastern Highlands Provinces will host this weekend’s Round 8 Digicel Cup matches. And if both venues comply with the Banis protocols, Kimbe in the West New Britain Province will have an opportunity to see their Cutters side at home before the regular season ends.
PNG National Rugby League Competitions (NRLC) Manager Stanley Hondina said the challenge was now on Minj and Goroka to deliver good quality rugby league games without compromising the protocols in place. Stanley Hondina will also be present at both venues to oversee and assess that all protocols are complied with.
He congratulated the Agmark Rabaul Gurias management and Kalabond staff in Kokopo for not only successfully hosting the first game outside of Port Moresby and Lae which has set a new bench mark last weekend.
On Saturday, JPG Waghi Tumbe host Wamp Nga Mt Hagen Eagles at John Ambane oval while on Sunday reigning premiers Lae Snax Tigers travel to Goroka to meet Bintangor Goroka Lahanis at the National Sports Institute. Games on both days kick off at 2.00pm.
Kick off times for the double headers in Port Moresby and Lae will be 1.00pm and 3.15pm.
