Influential women leaders from the Highlands, NGI and Momase Regions are in Lae today for a three-day Workshop to empower and showcase women’s leadership within the country.
The workshop jointly organised by the Department for Community Development & Religion together with UN Women focuses on profiling elected and nominated women leaders at the LLG/Ward level and Provincial Assembly, Capacity Building Needs Assessment and Information Sharing.
Deputy Secretary for Program Division of Department for Community Development and Religion, Ms Jean Sliviak welcomed the participants and representatives of respective government agencies.
More than 25 women and a handful of men are attended this workshop where they shared their experiences and heard from speakers including former Member for Moresby South and Technical Expert with UN Women, Dame Carol Kidu.
The participants said they are thankful for the joint initiative and looking forward to a successful closing.
Minister Goi and Secretary Bais will join the women leaders on Wednesday 4th November to hear their Achievements, Challenges, capacity needs and way forward.
