A three-day print media seminar was held in the Catholic Archdiocese of Mt Hagen in Rebiamul focused on writing articles, creating newsletters and capturing photographs with a message.

Held from 27th to 29th October, the purpose of the seminar was to equip the participants with necessary skills that will enable them to participate in the different media platforms to spread the message of God’s love to all especially in the print media.

Catholic Bishops Conference Social Communications Commission (SOCOM) Representative Ms Abigail Seta facilitated the program at the Trinity FM studio which had seven participants present. The participants were five staff from Trinity FM Radio Station and two youths from the parishes in the Archdiocese.

The content of the seminar included the importance of news, news writing and editing, writing feature articles, creating newsletter, inverted pyramid and taking inspiring photographs.

According to Trinity FM’s journalist, Simon Mokot, there is a need for more skills training for media personnel involved in print media.

The workshop has helped the participants to improve their skills in imparting messages to others through media print. They appreciated his grace Archbishop Douglas Young, and the CBC SOCOM for their continual support in educating youth in the social media platform. The Print Media Program was sponsored by SOCOM together with the Archdiocese of Mt Hagen.
