New Ireland’s Pension Policy grabbing attention

The Department of Community Development and Religion has taken an interest in New Ireland’s Old Aged and Disabled Pension Policy.

Members of the Department of Community Development and Religion, led by acting secretary Jerry Ubase are currently on a 5 day mission in the New Ireland Province, to get a better understanding about the Provincial Government’s Old Aged and Disabled Pension policy.

New Ireland Governor, Sir Julias Chan himself gave a brief over view of how the vision for the Old Aged and Disabled Policy became a reality. As well as CEO for Subsidy, Mactil Bais, elaborated further on the technical aspects as well as the ground work put into collecting up to date and accurate data for the policy which was a feat in itself.

Currently on the New Ireland Government’s Old Aged and Disabled data-base system are 11,300 beneficiaries of the pensions. With the Government paying out K40.5 million since the inception of the policy. The eligibility age is 65 year’s and over.
