Season’s Best Celebrated at Cup Awards Night

The Digicel Cup Awards for 2020 was held at the Sir John Guise outdoor stadium on Thursday night where the competition’s top performing players and officials were recognised.

Rookie of the year went to Kroton Hela Wigmen youngster Judah Rimbu. Judah has been coming off the bench as a utility and has developed well under the guidance of senior players around him. Amongst his own team mates, Watson Boas is also a player he looks up to and enjoys watching and this season had the opportunity to play against. Judah will be putting his body on the line to top off an already remarkable season with a premiership win.

The top try scorer for Digicel Cup 2020 went Solo Wane. Becoming the top point scorer in his debut year into the Digicel Cup challenge has given him a good start to his rugby league career. Solo has also developed well under the guidance of senior Wigmen players such as skipper Valentine Culligan, Gilmo Paul and Aigiru John. Solo’s role model is the late Kato Ottio

Top point scorer for Digicel Cup 2020 was awarded to Solomon Pokari who was very happy with the work on and off the field he’s put in this season. Solomon who delivered the field goal in his second attempt near the touch line in the 88th minute against the Gurias last week earning the Wigmen a grand final spot against the Tigers described the moment.

Watson Boas received the award for player of the year and will dedicate his award to the late John Nightingale. Watson will be heading back to England next season to finish off his international rugby league contract.
