Kavieng Rugby Football League (RFL) in the New Ireland Province received approval from the PNGRFL office on Monday Oct 26 to commence the rugby league 9s off-season competition under the “New Normal” complying with Covid-19 Prevention Protocols. The approval advice was relayed to Kavieng RFL through NGI Confederate Development Officer Solomon Darius.
The competition will kick off this Sunday November 1 which will run for 5 consecutive Sundays beginning in November.
With the New Ireland RFL Bid 2022 imminent, game and talent development is critical at this stage. Kavieng RFL is working very closely with the New Ireland Government and other partners, stakeholders and sponsors on the ground to establish an effective and fully empowered, strong and thriving local league network.
They thanked the PNGRFL for the approval given and will continue to keep everyone abreast on the rugby league developments within the province.
