Takale Tuna inducted into PNG’s Sporting Hall of Fame

The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee hosted its 6th PNG Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony yesterday evening at the Port Moresby Arts Theater.

The event initiated by the PNG Olympic Committee is to honor and preserve sporting moments, by recognizing the legacy of individuals who excelled in the past, giving recognition to sporting accomplishment that brought pride and distinction to Papua New Guinea, and have contributed to the development and success of sport in PNG.

The first induction ceremony was conducted in 2011 with Sir John Kaputin and Edward Laboran as the first two people to be recognised into the Sport Hall of fame.

This year, the PNG Olympic Committee is pleased to honor, Mr. Takale Tuna from the sport of Athletics, Mr. Wavala Kali, also from the sport of Athletics and the late Robert Stewart from the sport of Shooting.

Elite Champions in their day, proudly raising the PNG flag both locally and internationally, achieving many great feats along the way and in doing so, inspiring the next generation of athletes. Congratulations to the Hall of Fame class inductees of 2020.

PNG Olympic Committee acknowledged the support of Coral Sea Hotels, SP Brewery, Trophy Haus, Blue7Team and Coca Cola Amatil, in making the event possible.
