The stage is set for the boxing event that will go down in PNG boxing’s history books for the match up that not only PNG but the entire Asia-Pacific region and the world will witness on Sunday, April 25th 2021. The World Boxing Association – Asia Championship, Super-Featherweight title belt between PNG’s own Raka Kauko Junior and Roldan Aldea from the Philippines.
Apart from the main event will be an international undercut bout in the 69kg Walter weight division between PNG’s Andrew Aisanga and Philippines boxer Mark Sales. Traveling into PNG to officiate the matches is Silvestre Daz Abainza the World Boxing Association Asia (WBA-Asia) Ring Supervisor and Alfredo Jocosol – WBA-ASIA Referee and Judge.
Mr Daz Abainza, gave high praise for former PNG champ Martin Benny formerly ranked number 10 in the world of boxing and excited at the boxing talent and potential PNG has to offer.
The Philippines Ambassador to PNG Mr Bienviendo Tejano on behalf of the Filipino community welcomed the event and thanked Prime Minister Marape on the Government’s support and sees the event in strengthening further ties and opportunities with both countries.
Ben Micah the PNG Professional Boxing Council Interim President, acknowledged the hard work put in by Oceania Fight Promotions (OFP) the managers from both Philippines and PNG including Martin Beni, PNG Boxing Legend and OFP Promoter, during these very uncertain times and thanked all the sponsors and partners for making the event possible.
Sunday afternoon will be a fiesta for PNG boxing fans at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex featuring also six (6) local undercut bouts showcasing PNG boxers.
