In a joint news conference yesterday at the Sir John Guise Stadium PNGFA president John Kapi Nato highlighted the predicament PNGFGA was already in when he took office.
Kapi Nato welcomed the current criticisms, saying as long as they are constructive to the development of soccer in PNG. The Kumul Petroleum Holdings National Soccer League is working hard to promote the game which in the past was only played in the Northern and Southern regions.
With the inclusion of the highlands and Niugini islands region the challenges of running a NSL in all four corners of PNG is no easy task and the PNGFA is still testing new ground and working off the results. The NSL is now managing a total of 27 teams from a previous competition that saw only 6 teams participating. It will not be all smooth sailing but the PNGFA and the NSL will definitely improve in time.
