Abigail Tere Apisah, PNG’s rising international tennis superstar has won her first Women’s ITF 25,000 in Singapore by defeating Valeria Savinykh of Russia.
Her achievement makes her the the first ever player from PNG and the Pacific to win in a women’s pro event.
Abigail took to her facebook page to share her achievement with her fans stating “Singapore will always hold a special place in my heart from now. I won my very FIRST pro singles title today. It was extra special making the doubles finals as well with my partner Rutuja Bhosale (thank you for a brilliant week of doubles). Although we fell short in the final, I’m still extremely proud and happy with my performance this week.”
