The life of the late Donal Leslie Fox OBE was honoured and celebrated today (Monday 20 July 2020) at the Cathedral of St. Stephen’s, Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City, Australia.
A small crowd which included PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka, CEO Reatau Rau, representatives from Ela Motors and the Media gathered at the Oil Search National Football Stadium (NFS) to witness the livestream of his funeral service taking place in Brisbane, Australia as well as share their experiences and reflections of the late Don Fox. Don was someone who held three things close to his heart — his family, PNG and rugby league. While we mourn his passing, we are honoured to also celebrate his life and legacy.
Donal Leslie Fox, born on January 6th, 1942 at Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia first came to PNG in 1966 as an accountant. His illustrious involvement with PNG rugby league began that same year when he joined the Magani Badili Rugby League club in Port Moresby as a goal kicking front rower.
He served in other various capacities including being the inaugural Chairman of Toyota Enga Mioks, Chairman of the PNG National Rugby League, Chairman of the PNGRFL and as an Independent Director until his passing.
The husband of Janet. And father of Joanne, Simone and Monique, respected Father-In-Law to Rob, Andrew and Julian and loving bubu to his six grandchildren; Ireland, Tyge, India-Rose, Matisse, Sol & Ara. Brother to Colleen, Michael and Therese and mentor and friend to many.
