Maru ensures Yangoru Saussia sees development

Member for Yangoru Saussia, Hon Richard Maru’s electorate has seen some major infrastructure development recently.

Kubalia Secondary School’s new 80-person dormitory is almost complete, with it’s roof being erected today. School Principal Albert Tuongama in thanking Member Maru, said via facebook “Such has restored the confidence and aligned us to see tangible changes taking place.  The mess hall is next after the two dormitories.  Thank you Hon Member Maru for giving a facelift to education infrastructure in Kubalia and Yangoru Saussia as a whole.”

A new Staff House at Waningu Health Post is also nearing completion, with Maru saying “We will have the house fully furnished and have power connected before we recruit a new head for this health facility which will be upgraded  to a sub health centre for the Wingei Census Division.  Work on the new Heath Centre will commence later this year as soon as DSIP funding for 2020 is released to YS DDA. So far no funds have been released as yet.”

“This is one of our deliberate strategy to bring health services down to our rural communities – making functional healthcare physically and economically accessible for our people.  We want to attract good health workers by providing good quality accommodation, electricity, security, good education for their kids, etc, so they can be motivated to serve in our District” Maru added.

Another major development has been the new BSP Yangoru Branch, which Maru said is progressing well, today receiving a new standby generator to counter the frequent blackouts expereinced out of Wewak. 

Upon thanking the BSP management, Maru added that “Bringing banking services to our District is our strategy to relieve our people and public servants from the hardship of traveling far to access banking services.  It will also enhance economic investments and activities in the District.”
