21 Days of Prayer and Fasting launched by PM

On 25 March, 2020 in Port Moresby, the Prime Minister Hon James Marape and Mrs. Rachael Marape were at hand at the Tabernacle of Prayer Assemblies of God Church in Port Moresby to launch the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting for the nation for God’s protection, safety & peace upon the people of Papua New Guinea during the Corona Virus pandemic.

PM Marape said that the “21 days of prayer and fasting should be a time of repenting and giving our lives to God, thanking Him for His countless blessings He has bestowed upon us.”

The Body Of Christ Chairman Reverend Joseph Walters and a Representative of PNG Council of Churches urged Pastors and Christian Churches throughout the country to fast and pray for the next 21 days for the country through this time of chaos and uncertainty. He further shared scriptural explanations of why it was important to pray and fast.

The event organised by the Church Leaders and the Department of Community Development was a small ceremony, however a significant one none the less. A 100 in attendance mainly Senior Church Leaders and key Departments involved in the current State of Emergency. This included the Minister for Community Development, Youth & Religion Hon. Wake Goi, Department of Community Development Secretary Anna K Bais.
