Helping Hand Honey Producers was established in 2006 by Kelly Inae, specialising in Apiculture Training, production of beekeeping materials and honey processing.
They are the proud owners of the PNG brand Mountain Honey, with a business model focused on empowering family units through quality aquaculture training and monitoring programs to ensure income earning activities and opportunities are created to improve standards of living.
Since mid September Helping Hand Honey Producers has been running Beekeeping and Honey Farmers Training in Goroka EHP.
Their 5th Introduction to Honey Farming Training took place last week. For the first time since its inception, Helping Hand Honey Producers recorded the highest number of female participants. Training that is usually made up of male farmers saw a total of 8 women participants.
Out of the 8 women who participated in last week’s training, six (6) were fulltime working-class women. Mr. Kelly Inae, principal trainer and owner of Helping Hand Honey Producers’ described the training as special because of these women. He added, “The training initially targets rural people but lately, we have seen an overwhelming interest from working class people in urban areas.”

These eight women are;
- Dr. Shirley Tomangana, Dentist, Goroka General Hospital
- Dr. Casparia Mond, Paediatrician, Goroka General Hospital
- Dr. Celestine Aho, Microbiologist, Institute of Medical Research
- Judy Hipofa, Finance, Eastern Highlands Provincial Admin
- Rebecca Timereke, Retired nurse
- Sasah Tangabo, Procurement officer, Institute of Medical Research
- Agnes Mek, Social Researcher, Institute of Medical Research
- Jocabed Kuriven
Director of Provincial Division of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Mr. Bubia Muhuju, was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony last Friday, announced that all of the participants from these training will attend further training on the SME Value Chain under the Provincial DAL.
Helping Hand Honey Producers strong commitment in the past 14 years towards the rebuilding and strengthening of the honey industry in the country continues to improve and add value with their presence in the communities, especially rural, where our dedicated farmers live. The relationship built with their farmers, is built on trust and honesty that continues to create more opportunities for us to grow.
