Bialla town in West New Britain Province now has access to clean drinking water supply after the commissioning of the Water PNG (WPNG) and World Bank initiated project on Monday 19th of October 2020. The 18 million kina Bialla Town Water Supply project investment covers 760 metres of pressure pipe lines, 684,000 litres of water reservoir and 7km Transmission and distribution network covering Bialla town and servicing 300 houses and serve more than 2500 people.
Present to witness the commissioning were Minister for State Enterprises, Hon Sasindran Muthuvel along with WPNG Team, Hon Governor Maneke, Minister Transport Hon William Samb and Vice Minister Mining Hon Jimmy Uguro.
Minister Muthuvel thanked former administrator Steven Raphael , DPM Sam Basil, WPNG, National Planning, Treasury and the World Bank to make the project possible for the people in Bialla town.
This District Town Water Supply project will continue on to 9 other districts who have been identified and work is under way, next being Bulolo followed by Kundiawa.
