The Governor General of Papua New Guinea Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, has conveyed on behalf of the nation his congratulatory message to the new President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden.
Mr. Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States along with Mrs. Kamala Harris as the first female Vice President this week.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Papua New Guinea, it is my honour to extend to you our warmest congratulations on your successful election and inauguration as the 46th President of the United States of America.”
“Papua New Guinea and the United States of America have a long and shared history that reaches back to the Second World War and since then relations between our two countries has continued to grow and prosper. Papua New Guinea values the support and cooperation of the United States over the years and shares with the United States the common desire to uphold democratic principles and promote peaceful co-existence and security in our respective regions as well as in the global community which we are confident will continue under your capable leadership.”
“May I also extend through you our warm congratulations to the Vice President Mrs. Kamala Harris on a milestone achievement as the first woman to the office of the Vice President of the United States. I wish you and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden good health and success throughout your tenure as President of the United States of America, and peace, unity and goodwill for the people of the United States of America.”
The Governor General is on his annual recreational leave and will resume office in February next month. Speaker of National Parliament Job Pomat is acting Governor General in the interim.
