PNG Hunters v Northern Pride: ISC Round 2 preview

Coming off a tough 10-0 away loss to the Tweed Heads Seagulls in Round 1 of the Intrust Super Cup last week, the new look PNG Hunters look to take advantage of their home game support today hoping for a much needed win against the Northern Pride.

Incomplete sets and dropped balls in front of the Tweed line last week saw Hunters miss out on potential early points, and with today’s wet conditions in Port Moresby, ball security is crucial.

Coach Michael Marum is banking on the Hunters halves to click today, and an improved kicking game with early points on the board for the Hunters will set them on good footing to secure a victory against the Pride, who are without Kumul Nene Macdonald this week, who starred for the Cowboys in yesterday’s 24-12 win over the Dragons.

PNG Hunters have won their past four games between these two sides in PNG, and their impressive home record for the past 18 games has them losing only one with one draw. With this record on their side, we should see the Hunters first win of the season.

The game kicks off at 3pm today at the National Football Stadium, Port Moresby.
