CLRC launches Website and ICT Policy

After 15 years of operation as the Constitutional and Law Reform Commission (CLRC) of Papua New Guinea, the government organisation’s Website and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Policy were officially launched on Monday 22 March 2021 at the office of the CLRC in Port Moresby.

Before the launching a minute’s silence was observed in respect to the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.

In his address prior to the launching CLRC Chairman and Member for Wewak Open Hon. Kevin Isifu commended CLRC Secretary Dr Mange Matui and the senior management team for the clear vision and tireless efforts to recognize the potential of ICT as an integral part of the CLCR system and work process that will now provide an interface for work with stakeholders, the National Government, and international partners to review and reform laws given the changing nature of our society.

Mr Isifu said that the launch and the decision to embrace ICT is critically important in the continuation of the CLRC’s work in light of the challenges brought about by Covid 19 and the consequent need for less physical contact.

The ICT Policy and website are part of the strategic priorities of the CLRC Corporate Plan 2020–2024 to modernize its facilities and work processes not only to be on par with other organizations in the society, but also to keep up with the modernization of the National Government.

The website and ICT Policy were officially launched by CLRC Chairman Mr Isifu and Attorney General Dr Eric Kwa who is also the Secretary for the Department of Justice and Attorney General. Dr Kwa was also the first ever Chairman of the CLRC.

Also in attendance were CLRC Deputy Chairperson Dr Fiona Hukula, Dr Allan Marat and fellow CLRC Commissioners.
