PNG Sports Foundation (PNGSF) Executive Director Peter Tsiamalili has announced to all National Sporting Federations that as per the parliament decision of 3rd April 2020 to extend the Covid-19 State of Emergency (SOE) for another 2 months, all federations in Port Moresby, Goroka and Lae using PNGSF sporting facilities and venues will continue to be on lock down for an extended period of 2 months to manage the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Tsiamalili urged all national federations to plan for a shorter competition calendar commencing in June 2020. He added by saying “Furthermore, take this opportunity to strengthen your administration and refine your strategic development plans to address health issues such as Covid19.”
“At this juncture, I encourage everyone to be vigilant in maintaining personal hygiene by (1) Washing hands regularly (2) Do not rub face, mouth or eyes, (3) Cough into elbow (4) Social Distancing by Standing at least ono (1) metro from a person who has fever or coughing, and (5) Stay home.” Tsiamalili concluded.
