Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MPHA) through the Office of the Member for Lae and Lae City Authority received K100,000 for its COVID-19 response in the city
Minister for Lands & Physical Planning and Lae MP John Rosso stating the payment is to support the MPHA to contain the Pandemic response in Lae and surrounding communities.
MPHA is responsible for all health related services to the province.
“The Lae District Health Services is now under MPHA and so the LCA and my office can only support with funding,” says Mr Rosso.
Other programs are also in place through LCA to support families affected by COVID-19. One of which is the Lae City Hand Up Program in partnership with the Australian Consulate in Lae. This particular program will now be expanded to make certain more disadvantaged women and youths are involved.
The Lae MP also appealing to residents to observe COVID-19 protocols and the new normal guidelines to contain the spread of this disease.
