Scripture Union PNG (SUPNG) Chairman Naime O’ome, announced on Saturday 21 March, 2020 during their 2020 Planning meeting that all Scripture Union PNG activities and programs throughout the country are suspended effective immediately in line with the National Government’s health directive to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Chairman O’ome is advising all SUPNG Volunteers and participating schools to take heed of this direction for their personal health and that of the participating communities. All SU student activities involving communal gathering are suspended, such as the school fellowships, school prayer times and Skul Sumatin feeds.
All stakeholders will be informed through media on when activities will resume based on government directives.
In the meantime he has encouraged all SUPNG stakeholders whilst in their homes to continue to pray for God’s protection upon our nation especially for all health workers, and government officials who are working tirelessly to stop the virus from spreading.
SUPNG is a volunteer organisation operating in PNG for over 50 years, a Christian based organisation focusing on working with Primary, Secondary and National High Schools. A key driver for the organisation is to partner with schools to enhance student’s social and moral conscience base on biblical principles, to help improving learning environments in participating schools.
