The initial progress of completing the PNG COVID-19 Emergency Response Project dossier took approximately five weeks.

This approval reflects the support by World Bank towards this global pandemic and indeed to our efforts in Papua New Guinea via the implementation roll out of the approved COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the efforts of my staff at National Department of Health, Treasury, Prime Minister and National Executive Council. “The time and energy put in by these dedicated officers have resulted in a favorable and timely response by the World Bank Board in Washington DC of early this morning. This is a timely news as our country moves to celebrate Easter in a way never experienced before. It is indeed a giant leap in the progress for PNG in our efforts to tackle COVID-19 that has a potential to cripple our already depressed economy.”
