FC Bougainville’s preparation with a friendly played yesterday ended on high with a confidence boosting 5-0 win over Star Mountain.
Bougainville head coach Percy Mataio said the win had put them in a competition mode.
“The friendly was really helpful to us in making sure we are well versed with our plays both in offensive and defensive.
“I am delight with the 5-0 win but there is a lot of work we need to do in terms of how we plan to start the game and finished off the game.
“Our game model is slowly taking shape and hopeful with the commitment given by the players, we can be able to compete at the level we want against the might of Hekari.
Mataio said the addition of Steven Inia, Bernard Purari and Roniel Igens to the team during the transfer window has given a boost to the overall team’s performance and preparation.
Star Mountain team manager Joseph Ame said the friendly match had opened avenues for their coaching staff to work on the weak areas in his side’s game.
“The loss makes us see where we stand as a team and work on areas needs to be improved and move forward from there,” said Ame.
