It was predicted by many as a David versus Goliath matchup. With the lofty Komolong brothers holding the fort for Lae City FC looked the part against a young Vitiaz United side where height was a disadvantage. In loose and broken play the youthful speed of Vitiaz was threateningly ominous at times.
Lae City FC dominant throughout the match and as expected came out winning the Kumul Petroleum 2020 NSL Premiership with a 1–0 victory over Vitiaz United.
Speaking after the match Lae City FC Coach Bob Morris made it clear that he was handed the reigns of an already champion side and it was just a matter of continuing where the former coach left off.

Vitiaz United Team Manageress Rogena Strach can only see bigger and better achievements for the young side and is wary that opposing teams are already on the lookout for potential talent to build on next season.
