As Day 3 gets underway this morning, Day 2 of the 2021 PNG Air Grand Prix showcased some promising new PNG talent.
Day 2 on Saturday 3rd July started with men’s long jump with NCD Nest Athletics Team securing top 3 placings. East and West New Britain achieved top 3 placing for the women’s.
As the day continued, Team Crusaders and Nest topped the men’s 200 metres placings followed by Lae, NCD and Oro for the women.
NCD dominated the men’s and women’s discus and hammer throws, continuing to produce promising competitors in PNG athletics.

The highlight of the day was accredited to 18-year-old Dilu Goiye, who represented the Kerowagi Club in Chimbu Province running in the 5000 metres. Young Dilu’s time came in at 15 minutes 30.15 seconds finding himself on ninth place of PNG’s all-time best record list.
The last competition of the day was the relay event which revealed great talent from NCD Nest Athletics club and The National Sports Institute in Goroka dominating the first, second and third placings.
