PNG Air Grand Prix Series begins

Day 1 of the 2021 PNG Air National Athletics Grand Prix Series commenced on Friday 2nd July at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby with plenty of talent on show.

The national championships hosted by Athletics PNG and proudly sponsored by PNG Air is an annual event that features the best athletes from several competing provinces from the four regions of the country. The teams from these provinces consist of first timers, former and current champions, medalists and paralympians.

The track and field competition is a 3-day event running on July 2nd, 3rd and 5th.

The opening day featured competitive events for the men and women’s 100-800 metres sprints, javelin throws, discus, paralympics, and high jump. The first events started off with champions from the National Sporting Institute and NCD dominating the 400 metre runs followed by East New Britain, Team Nest and West New Britain topping the 800 and 100 metres sprints. The day closed with 1500 metre runs for both men and women with Western, Simbu and East New Britain provinces finishing on the top.

The championship continues today from 8am and includes 5000 metres for men and woman, continuation of the discus championship, hammer throws, 100–400-metres, triple jumps and 110m hurdles.

The final day of the event takes place on Monday from 8am and features the grand final of the entire competition starting with 3000 metres, high jump, hammer throwing, triple jump and 110m hurdles.

During the ten-day mission, held from 19 to 28 November, the team reviewed the plant’s preparedness, organization and programmes for safe long-term operation (LTO).

  2. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
