SOCCER followers will have a glimpse of top-class football when the cream of football talents in the country clash this Saturday at the PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby to vie for a spot in the National Men’s team; the PNG Kapuls.
The much-anticipated clash of the two men’s training squad teams will come after respective week-long training camps organised by the PNGFA Technical Department in Lae and Port Moresby.
Head of PNGFA Technical Department Paul Isorua said the training programs including the match is purposely to help with finalise selections for the PNG Kapuls National Team in preparation to participate in the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers scheduled to be hosted within the months of January and February 2022.
Isorua said all players shall converge in Port Moresby on Thursday, whereby, two (2) teams, PNG Red & PNG Gold shall be named for the scheduled match on Saturday.
Isorua stated that all the players attending the training program have good rates of fitness levels as a result of actively participating in the current 2021 NSL competition.
The PNG Kapuls possible train-on team will be finalized and named soon after this weeklong training program.
The training program is undertaken by coaches Bob Morris, Samson Steven, Erickson Komeng, Nathan Vincent, and Godfrey Baniau with support from PNGFA Technical officers Harrison Kamake and Margaret Aka. The team is managed by General Team Manager Gordon Manub.
PNGFA has approved spectators to attend the match day with reduced ticket selling prices at K10 for Grand Stand seats and K5 for the outer stand seats. The match will kick-off at 3pm with EMTV to do a test live coverage on the match.
