HUNTERS

Tell you what! Wow!! So close!! The ISC Round 9 score line at the NFS on Sunday (Townsville Blackhawks 24 defeated PNG Hunters 14) was not at all a true indicator of the determination fought Hunters. A result not wanted however the efforts were clearly there. The game was there for the taking as were the missed opportunities.

Hunters scoring early much to their own surprise I presume and weren’t able to hold the lead, relinquishing it almost moments later in a game tainted with dubious refereeing, aided by the unpunctual remnants of the past eight games. For sure, its times like these that test your character.

Nonetheless well done to Hunters for turning up and having a real good go. They’ve given the parochial fans something to look forward to in a fortnight’s time. Well done to all the supporters who keep going to the aid of the Hunters.

D-CUP

Dabari, Hop, skip, FLOPPPP! That’s the only big bang that came from the Digicel Cup features over the weekend. The much touted match of the round Central Dabari and Rabaul Gurias, ending up no more than a visit to the abattoir for the central men. Gurias still a colossus.

Isou at their diabolic best over form finding Wigmen. Sure to be a few suspensions from the mêlée. I half salute, the ref! Handling it well. Vipers, Muruks was shambolic to say the least about the Muruks efforts. Vipers, deserved winners.

Other games saw the Mioks over WIP (work in progress) Cutters. Tigers tamed the Eagles; Tumbes steal a draw on fulltime against the Lahanis in Goroka.
