During the Easter weekend, communities from Busiga LLG in the Finschhafen district in Morobe Province were presented with mini solar kits that will help to power study lamps as well as a create small charging bays for electronic appliances such as mobile phones.
Solar powered appliances have become increasingly popular in rural PNG where basic services are hard to reach. The solar kits were presented to the community by the district officer-in-charge Andrew Kenong and the Ward 9 councilor and deputy president on behalf of the Minister for National Planning and Finschhafen MP, Rainbo Paita.
Introducing solar power into the rural communities is a commitment made by Minister Paita to his elected district.
