With COVID-19 restrictions being eased within the country, PNG’s sporting fraternity is slowly getting back into its routine.
Last week, Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide and Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko met to formally agree to move forward with hosting the global event. The Japanese government and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have committed to holding the Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games next summer (2021), with a review of coronavirus countermeasures to be released at the end of this year.
This means the road to the Olympics must be pursued without delay or lack of effort and this week has already seen PNG’s top athletes converge at the High Performance Sport Centre.
