New multi-purpose Hall for Lae Secondary School opened

A K3.2million multi-purpose hall was officially opened at the Lae Secondary School today by Lae MP, Chairman of the Lae City Authority (LCA) and Lands & Physical Planning Minister Hon John Rosso.

The building was constructed with project fees contributions from parents and citizens and LCA supporting with K100,000 in 2018.

Minister Rosso during his keynote address thanked all stakeholders for their contributions and the school’s management for a successful completion of the building.

“I would like to commend all parents, students, staff and the board of management for always setting the pace in bringing in new developments for the school.”

“Alot of schools across Papua New Guinea face alot of difficulties dealing with limited funding, but Lae Secondary School has been opening new building infrastructures every year,” says Minister Rosso.

LCA board has also committed another K400,000 to the school to offset additional outstanding payments for the project.

“Dont wait for the government to come and do everything for you, do what you can using your initiatives and the government will back you where it needs to,” added Minister Rosso.

Lae Secondary School Principal Christopher Raymond and Board Chairman Stephen Mesa thanked all stakeholders for the support and wowed to continue to deliver quality learning for students into the future.

“I would also like to commend Principal Mr Raymond for his innovative and prudent management in keeping the school running with limited support from the government,”says Minister Rosso.

The school also opened two new ablution blocks containing 9 toilets for females and 10 for male students.

They also hosted a post-independence celebration which traditional dances and costumes from all provinces across PNG including West Papua were prominently displayed by students.
