Lae Schools get new Teachers Housing

Butibam Primary School, 4-Mile Primary School and St Martin’s Primary School in Lae each received brand new three-bedroom houses for their head teachers from the Lae City Authority.

Minister for Lands & Physical Planning and Lae MP, Hon. John Rosso, officiating in the opening of the houses informed students, staff and parents to prioritize quality learning as a way forward to build a better future for Lae City.

“We have twenty three Primary Schools and five high schools in Lae and we are doing our best to ensure each school gets the support it deserve” Mr Rosso stated.

Minister Rosso further stressing that children need to attain quality education and that’s the responsibility of the government to build better classrooms, teachers houses, laboratories and libraries etc and not paying for school fees.

Parents were also urged to support the schools by paying project fees and ensuring the school board and administration show good management of funds.

The houses were funded through the Lae DSIP Education component at a cost of K320,000, and are fully furnished with furniture and white goods including refrigerators, stoves and washing machines.

More schools are expected to be recipients of new head teachers houses and classrooms in the coming months.
